The 4th is on a Wednesday this year; I have no idea what the holiday schedule is at my new job but I will check it.

In theory it makes the most sense to go up maybe Wednesday - Sunday; not sure if that's too long, but that seems to be the only time frame that makes sense.. i.e.; Saturday - Thursday (5th) seems weird.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Kyle.. It'd be great if you all could make it since we don't get together often these days. The date is March 17th, our house, 5ish. We'll be having the traditional corned beef dinner along with other Irish shennanigans such as Guinness, Jameson, Bailey's and wee leprechauns. Wear your best green outfit and try to bring something Irish to share!

It is a relatively easy hike from what I've read, seen in the topo-maps, and heard from those who have done it before. Saturday morning we will be at the trail head to get rolling. The hike itself is an 8 mile loop; 4 miles in and 4 miles out. The trailhead is about 10 - 15 miles north of the town of Chester which resides on the shores of Lake Almanor. It is in the Southern reaches of Lassen. The elevation up there is 6,400 feet so if you are not at all used to this sort of thing be prepared for that.

I plan on staying the duration and hiking out late Monday morning to head home. There are of course no facilities, no running water, no shelter, and no developed campgrounds.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm not so good at the time and where and whats. I think we should be on the trail no later than 10am Saturday morning.
